Ten slokas hand-picked by Bagawan Ramanar & Mahaperiyava

Thanks to Dr SV Radhakrishna Sastrigal’s Sivanandha Lahari book and the devotee who sent me these. Need I say more?!

On an interesting note, it seems like we have a long tradition of second guessing each and every mahan!!!

Non-Tamil readers – please wait for translation.

  1. Dear Sir

Thank you for your article.I have one doubt. When we visit abroad especially Australia,New Zealand etc which are ahead of India timewise, what time to follow for the Thri-kala Sandhyavandanam? Now,for example,Australia is ahead by 5hrs 30 mins ahead of India time.Is there any communication from Periyava about this? Can you please help?

  2. I remember reading somewhere about Mahaperiyavaa expressing a desire that someone should attempt painting Kamakshi and Kameswara. Mahaperiyavaa I think had said that it would be interesting to see how someone would paint two deities with the same attributes (both have the flower arrows, sugarcane bow, goad and noose, three eyes, crescent moon…). Noticed that the cover page of the book above has exactly this painting very beautifully done by the artist.

  3. Please see the link, http://svradhakrishnasastri.in/ the official web site of Dr.S.V.Radhakrishna Sastri, inaugurated by Sri Pudu Periyava in Kancheerpuam, where in the E-book section under 4 categories, Spiritual, Sastra, Linguistic & Ayurvdea, fantastic collection of books are available in .pdf format, available for downloading. Also in the Audio section various rare audios are available, probably by Sri Dr SVR himself. Very well designed website. Mr. Mahesh already said about this in his earlier posting on 22.03.2016. Thanks to Dr. SVR family for sharing all this rare collections.

  8. Sivanandha Lahari is a totally Divine Song of 100 verses of Mutual Love of God and Bhaktha composed by Bhagavan adi sankara to our benefit. Anna Sri Ra. Ganapati writes that the song is a Mountain of Sweet Candy oozing sweetness all over. Divinity pervades in every verse and the beauty of Nature also is described well, as Adi AcharyaL composed it after Dhyana at Sri sailam amidst beautiful natural surroundings. Sri. S.V. Radhakrishna SashrigaL’s Tamil meaning is simple and easy to understand the Slokas. It is a great service that Sri. SVr’s works are all uploaded by his family for the benefit of all Asthikas. Many thanks to them.Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!.
